A celebration of creativity in the hilltowns, at the Village Church, Cummington
On the second and fourth Friday evenings of each month from September – June the community room at the Village Church in Cummington transforms. The gingham tablecloths come out, the snack table fills, guests stroll in through the kitchen, the lights dim, and the music begins. On the best nights, the place is packed and the energy of support and engagement is palpable as a wave of fellowship and best wishes washes, like the music itself, over everyone in the place. Seriously, people say there is something magical about the café. It has become a cherished, community-centered event.
For a decade now, the café has been dedicated to providing a high quality, intimate, friendly venue for hilltown performers to play for their friends, neighbors and anyone else who happens to find their way to the show. Our audiences range from octogenarians to infants and hale from the hilltowns, Pioneer Valley and Berkshires. Snacks and refreshments are provided, and guests may bring their own food/drink. Shows are from 7:00 – 9:00, there is no charge and donations for the performers and the church are appreciated.
The Cummington Village Church is at 32 Main St. in the heart of the Cummington Cultural District. The friendly folks at the Village Church believe that music can be a powerful force for building community. The Friday Night Cafe is one expression of this belief. Come see a show!
